Seiyu Rod Replacement Program

Accidents happen and we cannot control what nature sends our way. I (Tony) have broken two tenkara rods so far - once as a result of a friend's dog stepping on a blank (TB 36) and the other as a tip fraying on a hook set (Oni Type I). Both extremely nice rods, and each instance due completely to nature and not my own carelessness.

Regardless of how a rod breaks, using the situation as a learning experience to engage more fully with one's self is the most important. I want to support you in getting back on the water!

Seiyu is a non-traditional rod maker, in that we primarily make our rods in small runs for therapy clients first. It is the only fishing gear company (that I know of) which is operated as a part of a health care program. The material resources are limited, and as a result a complete spare part program is not possible for now. HOWEVER... all rods can break, and I really love this rod. Since getting the Therapy 33 prototype in my hand back in the spring of 2023, it's been the favorite rod in my quiver! I am sure that I have a strong bias... but regardless of my opinion, I want you to be back on the water as soon as possible with this rod!

Replacement Policy

  • For Seiyu therapy clients or direct customers: A complete rod replacement at 60% (40% discount) of the current MSRP price listed on our website, plus sales tax and shipping. You get to keep your first rod to use for any future part replacements, and proof of your broken rod is required. This applies one time per rod, as supplies exist.

  • For recipients of a rod donation (non-clients): A complete rod replacement at 75% (25% discount) of the current MSRP price listed on our website, plus sales tax and shipping. You get to keep your first rod to use for any future part replacements, and proof of your broken rod is required. This applies one time per rod, as supplies exist.
